Jheel Ke Us Paar 1973

Jheel Ke Us Paar tells the story of two young lovers, Rajesh and Geeta, who live in a small village on the banks of a lake. Rajesh is a hardworking farmer, while Geeta is an educated girl who dreams of studying further. Geeta's father is against their relationship, but they continue to meet secretly. Meanwhile, the corrupt politician of the village, Zorawar Singh, wants to acquire the lake and its surrounding land to build a hotel. He begins to threaten Rajesh and his family to sell the land, but Rajesh refuses. When Zorawar discovers the relationship between Rajesh and Geeta, he has Rajesh arrested. With the help of the villagers, Geeta is able to rescue Rajesh from prison and the couple elopes. In the end, Geeta and Rajesh are able to save the lake and get married with her father’s blessing. The film is a classic love story with a social message about fighting for one's rights.
