Story

Idiot is a 1992 Indian romantic drama directed by Shankar, starring Kamal Haasan and Roshini. The movie follows the story of Ramaswamy (Kamal Haasan), an innocent village man who moves to the city in search of a better life for himself and his family. After much difficulty, he is finally able to secure a job as a teacher at a prestigious school. However, his life takes a turn for the worse when he falls in love with one of his students, Janaki (Roshini). Despite being from different backgrounds, the two are strongly drawn towards each other. In spite of all their efforts to stay away from each other, fate keeps bringing them together again and again. As their bond grows stronger, they are forced to confront society's disapproval of their relationship. Ultimately, Ramaswamy must choose between a life of comfort and stability, or a life filled with joy and passion. Idiot is a poignant story of love, loss, and sacrifice.
