Helmet 2021

Helmet is a 1994 Indian drama film written and directed by Adoor Gopalakrishnan. It tells the story of Velu, an uneducated young man living in a small village in South India. He is faced with the difficult task of providing for his family when his father's fishing boat is destroyed in a storm. With no other options available, he decides to take up helmet-fishing, a dangerous and illegal profession where fishermen dive deep into the sea wearing only a helmet connected to an air tube linked to a boat. His mother is extremely worried about him but Velu is determined to make a better life for his family. Despite facing numerous dangers, Velu is able to successfully provide for his family. The film ends on an optimistic note, as Velu's hard work and determination have enabled him to improve his family's economic situation. In the end, Velu realizes that the path to success can be found through courage and perseverance.
