Gully Boy 2019

Gully Boy is a 2019 Indian Hindi-language musical drama film written, directed and co-produced by Zoya Akhtar. The movie follows the story of Murad Ahmed (Ranveer Singh), an aspiring rapper from the slums of Dharavi, Mumbai. Despite facing hardship due to his economic circumstances, Murad perseveres and discovers his true calling as a rapper with the help of mentor Shrikant AKA MC Sher (Siddhant Chaturvedi). Along the way, he also finds love in Safeena (Alia Bhatt). The film revolves around Murad's struggle for success and self-expression against all odds. He faces adversity from his conservative Muslim family and his peers who dismiss him as a dreamer. Through hard work and dedication, he gets a chance to prove himself at a rap battle. With the support of his loving girlfriend Safeena, Murad goes on to become a rising star in the rap scene and has the courage to stand up for what he believes in and fight for his dreams. Gully Boy chronicles the journey of Murad Ahmed, a young man from the slums who rises to fame and recognition through sheer hard work and determination.
