Story

Grama Kanya is an Indian movie directed by P. Pullaiah, released in 1935. It is based on a popular play of the same name. The story follows the life of a young girl, Ganga, from a small village who is forced to marry against her will. She rebels against her husband and his family, and eventually escapes to the city where she finds a job as a maidservant. In the city, she meets a young man, Siva, who helps her find her freedom. They fall in love and with Siva's help, Ganga is able to return to her village and reunite with her family. Ganga's bravery and determination inspire the other women in her village to fight for their rights and take control of their own lives. In the end, Ganga is reunited with her family, and she and Siva are married. Grama Kanya is a powerful story of female empowerment and courage that highlights the importance of fighting for what you believe in.
