Gol Maal 1979

Gol Maal is a classic 1979 Bollywood comedy about Ram Prasad Sharma who is desperate to avoid the wrath of his boss, Bhawani Shankar. As a solution, he lies to his boss and tells him that he has a twin brother named Laxman Prasad Sharma. He then hires an unemployed man, Ramprasad, to pose as Laxman and fool Bhawani. The plan works for a while until Bhawani discovers the truth. To avoid being fired, Ram concocts more elaborate lies and schemes to fool his boss. In the end, Bhawani finally learns the truth and allows Ram and Ramprasad to stay employed, on the condition that they never lie again. Through this story, Gol Maal illustrates the consequences of lying and how it can quickly spiral out of control. Despite the humorous situation, Gol Maal is ultimately a cautionary tale about the importance of honesty.
