Gauri 1968

Gauri is a 1968 Hindi film directed by K.A. Abbas. It stars Balraj Sahni, Nutan, and Daisy Irani. The movie tells the story of Gauri (Nutan), an orphan girl who lives in a small village in Punjab. She is adopted by a kind-hearted shopkeeper, Chaudhry Saheb (Balraj Sahni). Though poor, Chaudhry Saheb makes sure Gauri gets an education and she soon becomes a teacher in the village school. When Gauri falls in love with the son of a wealthy landlord, she must face the disapproval of her family and community. Despite the difficulties, Gauri and her lover eventually get married. In the end, Gauri's adoptive father gives her his blessing and the couple lives happily together.
