Filmistaan 2012

Filmistaan is a 2014 Indian comedy-drama film about a young man, Sharib Hashmi, who is an aspiring actor from India. After being rejected at auditions for a Bollywood movie, he takes up a job as an Assistant Director in a low budget film being shot in Rajasthan. His life takes an unexpected turn when he is kidnapped by Pakistani militants, mistaking him to be an American spy. He then unexpectedly bonds with his captors through his love of Bollywood films. The film portrays the warm relationship between the two countries and how the power of cinema can bring them closer together. Ultimately, Sharib learns to appreciate both cultures and finds a way to bring peace between India and Pakistan. In the end, he realizes what it truly means to be a Filmistaan (film lover).
