Devdas is a 2002 Indian romantic drama film directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. It stars Shah Rukh Khan, Aishwarya Rai, and Madhuri Dixit in the lead roles. The story revolves around Devdas Mukherjee (Khan), a wealthy young man from Calcutta, who returns home after completing his studies abroad. He reunites with his childhood sweetheart Paro (Rai), but his family disapproves of their relationship due to a difference in their social class. Devdas is unable to forget Paro and is driven to alcoholism. He meets Chandramukhi (Dixit), a courtesan, who falls in love with him despite knowing about his feelings for Paro.
