Dear Maya 2017

Dear Maya follows the story of Maya, a lonely middle-aged woman who lives in a small town in India. She receives letters from an anonymous admirer, which give her hope and something to look forward to each day. She is surprised when two teenage girls appear at her door one day, claiming to be searching for the anonymous admirer who wrote the letters. These girls, Ana and Ira, eventually befriend Maya and learn more about her life. Through their friendship, Maya begins to rediscover the beauty in life, even in her isolated existence. She finds a renewed sense of purpose by teaching the girls, and guiding them on their journey of self-discovery. In the end, Maya discovers that the letters were actually written by Ira's mother, and that it was her plan all along to bring Maya out of her loneliness and isolation. Maya ultimately finds joy and purpose in her life and the three friends part ways with the promise of staying in touch.
