Story

Bombay Velvet is an Indian crime drama film, set in the year 1959. It follows the story of a street fighter, Johnny Balraj, who aspires to become a big-time entrepreneur. Johnny falls in love with Rosie, a jazz singer and dancer, and befriends Jazz Club owner Kaizad Khambatta. With Khambatta's help, Johnny manages to open his own club, Bombay Velvet. Meanwhile, an ambitious journalist, Kaizad’s former flame, is determined to expose corruption in the city. When she begins to uncover details of a land grab by a powerful business tycoon, it leads to a power struggle between the two men. As the stakes become higher, Johnny finds himself caught in the middle – and in danger of losing everything he holds dear. In the end, Johnny sacrifices his own wellbeing for the good of everyone around him. The film ends with Johnny being reunited with Rosie, as they walk off into the sunset together.
