Story

Basant is a classic Bollywood drama film, released in 1942. It revolves around the story of a kind-hearted girl named Basant, who is forced to leave her home due to poverty and moves to Bombay to find work. She meets an old man who takes pity on her and gives her shelter in his home. There she meets his son, a wealthy young man named Rajan, who falls in love with her. However, when he discovers that she is from an impoverished background, he shuns her away. This leads to a rift between father and son. In the end, Basant sacrifices her own happiness and returns to her home, while Rajan realises his mistake and apologises for it. The story ends with their eventual reunion and happy ending. Basant is a heartwarming tale of love, sacrifice and reconciliation. It celebrates the importance of understanding and acceptance in relationships, despite social class and financial status.
