Banaras 2006

Banaras is a 2006 Indian drama film directed by Pankaj Parashar and starring Naseeruddin Shah, Dimple Kapadia, and Urmila Matondkar. The movie follows the story of Ganga (Matondkar), a young girl from Varanasi who moves to Mumbai in search of a better life. She meets the wealthy and handsome Siddharth (Shah), who falls for her. When her father (Kapadia) finds out about it, he is enraged and disowns her. In the end, Ganga is forced to choose between Siddharth and her family. She decides to go back to Varanasi, leaving Siddharth behind. Back in her hometown, Ganga learns a valuable lesson: that true happiness lies in being content with one's own self and in finding love within oneself. Despite the heartbreaking outcome, this movie shows the power of true love and family bonds.
