Story

Baap Beti is a 1954 Indian family drama film directed by Raja Nawathe. The movie tells the story of a widowed father and his two daughters. The eldest daughter, Sunita, is intelligent, ambitious and determined to get ahead in life, while the younger daughter, Lata, is more traditional and content with the status quo. When Sunita meets a young man, Raj, she is instantly attracted to him, but her father disapproves of the match. To make matters worse, Raj has only recently been released from jail and is viewed as a criminal in the eyes of their conservative community. Despite opposition from her father, Sunita and Raj eventually marry. After much heartache and tribulation, Sunita's father ultimately accepts Raj into the family and they all live happily ever after. Baap Beti portrays a heartfelt story of love, family, and acceptance. It is a story of how true love conquers all obstacles and brings people together, regardless of their backgrounds or preconceived notions.
