Story

Angoor is a 1982 Bollywood comedy-drama film, adapted from the play The Comedy of Errors by William Shakespeare. It tells the story of two pairs of identical twins who were separated at birth and have no knowledge of each other. Ashok and Bahadur are two brothers who live in the same town, but are unaware that they have a twin. They lead completely different lives, but end up having to pretend to be each other when their respective wives, Gauri and Anju, meet them both at the same time. Hilarity ensues as the four of them try to figure out the truth. Along the way, they must contend with a villainous lawyer who wants to exploit the situation for his own gain. In the end, the brothers reunite and the couples marry, living happily ever after. The movie is a lighthearted and humorous look at the chaos that could ensue if identical twins were separated. Despite the comedic elements, there is an underlying theme of familial love that gives Angoor its heartwarming ending.
