Story

Amma is a 1986 Tamil drama film directed by S. P. Muthuraman and produced by Rajam Balachander and Pushpa Kandaswamy. The film stars Sivaji Ganesan, Sujatha, Prabhu, Radha, and Saritha in lead roles. The story follows the life of an old man, Amma (Sivaji Ganesan) who lives with his daughter and her family. He is respected and loved by everyone around him. His daughter's husband is a police officer and also holds a high position in society. Amma loves and takes care of his grandchild, but his daughter's husband is not happy about this because he believes it undermines his authority. Eventually, Amma's daughter finds out and forces her husband to accept Amma and his love for the child. This brings happiness back into their home and Amma continues to be a loving and respected figure in the household. In the end, Amma dies peacefully surrounded by his family.
