Airlift 2016

Airlift is a 2016 Indian historical drama film starring Akshay Kumar and Nimrat Kaur. The story is set in the 1990 Gulf War, when Iraq invaded Kuwait. A rich Kuwaiti businessman, Ranjit Katyal (Kumar), employs his resourcefulness and connections to evacuate over 170,000 Indian citizens who were stranded in Kuwait. He teams up with the Indian government to give an unprecedented airlift evacuation of the refugees. With the odds stacked against them, he must fight bureaucracy and politics to make sure that the mission succeeds. In the end, his efforts are successful and the citizens are brought back to India safely. Through his courage and determination, Ranjit Katyal was awarded the highest civilian honor in India.
