Story

Afsana is a 1951 Bollywood romantic drama film directed by Amiya Chakrabarty. It stars Dilip Kumar and Nimmi as the lead couple, with music composed by S.D. Burman. The story revolves around Jagdish (Dilip Kumar), a wealthy man who has been brought up by his paternal uncle after being orphaned at a young age. Jagdish meets a young woman, Chanda (Nimmi), and falls in love with her. They plan to marry, but Jagdish's uncle disapproves of their relationship because Chanda is from a poor family and he believes she will bring dishonor to the family. Despite this, Jagdish and Chanda get married in secret. However, Jagdish's uncle manipulates the situation and Chanda is forced to leave and live a life of poverty. She eventually finds work as a nursemaid for a wealthy family. Meanwhile, Jagdish continues to search for Chanda and eventually finds her. He begs for forgiveness and they reunite. The movie ends with them living happily ever after.
